We are just starting our next assignment here at LaGrange College. Students will be making two part press molds of a found object and reproducing the objects out of clay. Throughout this project we will be learning about plaster and some of its uses in industry. We are also exploring different ways to use plaster in ceramics in the form of hump molds, slump molds, sprig molds, to create textured slabs, and through processes like slip casting.
The studio is now prepared and mostly plaster proof. The tables are covered with plastic to help prevent any messes on our work tables. We also have a designated area off to the side of the room for plaster mixing.
